Moving Forward in Ministry in 2016

Are you ready to fly? I’m not sure if you ever look out of the windows of an airplane when you’re about to take off. I always find myself checking outside to get a glimpse of what is going on. I always wondered and recently learned what all those numbers and letters mean that sit along the side of the runway.

Simply put, those numbers correspond to the direction and degree the runway faces. They are extremely important to say the least. But here is something amazing, the numbers change! The numbers are connected to the magnetic north pole. So that in order to have planes take off and land safely they must always be accurate but they also change from time to time. The magnetic pole changes over time due to the magnetic changes in the earth’s core – it is unavoidable.

This illustration and reality are true for us in ministry. We can take off and land using the same runway but our directional focus may need to change so that we accurately apply the right ministry focus. This means that we need to check outside of ourselves to see if things have changed in our environment. We need to see if we are flying on course or off course and continually make the necessary adjustments to the plan.

Moving forward we will do our best to stay in tune with the Holy Spirit so that we can always have an accurate compass guide.
