Church family,

Some seasons feel like standing in the surf as wave after wave knocks us off balance. A diagnosis. A job loss. A relationship strained thin. An ache you can’t quite name. If that’s you right now, I want you to hear this from your pastor’s heart: you are seen, you are loved, and you are not alone.

This past week, I found myself awake in the early hours, mind racing with questions I couldn’t answer. I reached for scripture and landed in Lamentations 3: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed… His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” I didn’t feel different right away—but I felt held. Sometimes faith doesn’t quiet the storm; it anchors us while the storm passes.

Faithfulness in difficulty isn’t pretending everything is fine. It’s choosing—one small step at a time—to lean into Jesus when you’d rather withdraw, to keep your heart open when fear wants you to shut down.

– Faithfulness looks like showing up to worship even when you feel empty.
– It sounds like a whispered “Lord, help me” when you can’t find other words.
– It feels like reaching for a brother or sister and saying, “Could you pray with me?”

Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” Notice the focus: not on the strength of our grip, but on the faithfulness of the One we’re holding.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus,
You are our Good Shepherd and our sure foundation. For those walking through deep waters, be near. For those who are weary, give rest. For those who are anxious, grant Your peace that passes understanding. Teach us to trust You with tomorrow and to be faithful today. Knit our church together in love, and let Your hope rise in us again. Amen.

With love and steadfast hope,
Pastor Rhoden
