Christmas Songs at Westminster Presbyterian
On Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 6pm, three outstanding churches of the NBPC-SC ( National Black Presbyterian Caucus – Southern California) celebrated Christmas by singing Christmas songs and more. Churches in the program included Westminster Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles, Community United Presbyterian Church, and First Presbyterian Church of Inglewood. Each church not only featured their choirs singing, but they also read scripture from the Christmas story.
Performance Highlights of the Christmas Songs that were Sung
One particular highlight of the evening was Michael Fox who played the Christmas song, O Holy Night, on the violin. Those that attended were inspired and filled with the joy of Christmas. It was also a pleasure listening to the scripture and a poem named “Hush”. What I really felt very proud of was the way the Sanctuary Choir of Westminster sang to the Glory of God in a way that brought the people to their feet in praise to our Holy Father.
This service started out as the Sanctuary Choir’s program as a small concert; we usually participate separately with the other churches on a Christmas Eve service. To our delight, the others decided to join us on the 23rd instead of the 24th, therefore making it our traditional service.
Special Thanks to all who joined us to sing Christmas Songs
We at Westminster are truly thankful that we have Dr. James M. Calhoun as our director and musician; especially the hard work he has put us through to improve ourselves and feel the joy of the Lord in our souls. I also wish to thank Carol Wooten for supporting us by joining us when we sing. On December 23, 2015, the Glory of the Lord was raised up as we sang Christmas songs and celebrated the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ.
