Prayers of the People:

Almighty God, your Son preached justice and social equality — and the coming of the kingdom of God. The apostle Paul reminds us that we are one in Christ, that “There is no such thing as Jew and Greek, slave and freeman, male and female.” But we know that is not true in practice, merely a lofty goal. We are divided by race, gender, economics, politics and religion. We give thanks this morning for all who have fought and struggled against discrimination, seeking change and equality for all people; for people like Martin Luther King Jr., who preached and lived the gospel so eloquently. We ask you to grant us courage to act, and not turn away in fear when we see oppression and discrimination. Help us also to preach and live out the gospel each day. Open our eyes to injustice and loosen our tongues to speak out against it. Help us to trust that you always give us the strength we need. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen!

Offering Song:

“Get Away Jordan” by Stacey V. Gibbs

“Gospel Train” by Ken Burton

Offering Prayer:

Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness. We are so grateful that we can always count on you. Out of your abundance and great mercy, you have given us so much. And so we give you this offering today. With it we worship you and give our whole selves to you. Take it now and use it for your kingdom and your glory. Extend and multiply its reach and influence, we pray. May it be a great blessing to many. We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus.

Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER

Go now, and speak of what you have seen of God’s glory.  Do not cling to the holy moments when heaven overshadows you, but as the Lord lives, listen to Christ and follow him from the places of revelation to the places of mission.

And may God shine the light of glory into your hearts.  May Christ be with you and never leave you.  And may the Spirit renew the image of God within you.

We go in peace to love and serve the Lord.  Amen.

We hope you enjoyed Virtual Sunday Worship.
