Good morning, Thank you for choosing to join Westminster in our Zoom Worship service on this 4th Sunday of November, November 28th. Would you bow your heads as I pray our Opening Prayer.
(Please keep yourselves muted.)
Shhh, Virtual Worship is Starting
Opening Prayer:
Spirit of the Lord God, you bring good news to the oppressed, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and release the prisoners. You comfort all who mourn, and shower your people with the oil of gladness instead of mourning; a mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. We will greatly rejoice in the Lord, our whole being shall exult in God, for the sake of the One who brought righteousness to life, Jesus Christ our salvation. Amen.

Prayers of the People:
Most gracious God, we are bound for Bethlehem and we come with gratitude that you are ever with us as we journey. Help us as we travel to stay on the path and keep us focused on the purpose of our mission. We confess that in the busyness of this season, we stray from the holy day and concentrate instead on the holiday. So we would ask that you guide us.
As we put up our Christmas lights, might we be reminded of your light. Grant us the patience to pause in our task and bask in the promise of the star we follow. As we trim our trees, let us take time to share the treasured memories of family gatherings so that it is your love that decorates our homes. As we shop for gifts, keep us mindful of the birth-day we celebrate and the gift we are given in the manger. When we bake cookies and make candy, let us stir in forgiveness … serenity … peace … joy … and love so that our presents reflect the gift of your presence.
We are bound for Bethlehem, O God. We each must answer as to whether there is room inside the inn of our hearts for your son. Grant that it might be so. We pray in the name of the one whom the wisest seek, the baby Jesus the Christ, the Messiah who taught us to say when we pray….
Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offering Prayer:
Holy God of new beginnings, as we share our tithes and offerings with you, we are filled with hope. We enter the season of Advent with expectation; we have left behind us a time of fear, isolation, and uncertainty; and we raise our heads because we know our redemption is coming near. May our gifts be dedicated to help heal the brokenness of our world and to welcome our Messiah into the world once again. In Christ, we pray. Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER
My friends, as you go forth from this place, remember the Light of the World who is to come. Remember the light of Christ who will show us what a life of love looks like. May the Lord, therefore, bless you, and make your love increase and overflow for each other this day and always.
Amen.
We hope you enjoyed Virtual Sunday Worship.
