Prayers of the People:

Bethlehem beckons to all of us O God, even to those who come reluctantly. We offer our prayers for those who have been trampled on their journey. We pray that the life of this child born in the darkness of night in the depth of winter might be a cause for hope in the dark winter of their lives.

We are bound for Bethlehem, O God. We journey to the stable in awe at this wondrous thing that is to happen. Like Mary, let our souls magnify the Lord and let us kneel before the cradle in thanksgiving. Bethlehem beckons and we come reverently with open hearts as we prepare to greet the babe and receive the gift of love given to us that we might have life and have it abundantly. Bethlehem beckons and we come to meet the Messiah who taught us to say when we pray…

Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Offering Song:  “There’s Something about”

Offering Prayer:

God who gives all gifts, in this season, we focus so much on giving gifts to one another. Help us, we pray, to remember what John the Baptist tells us is on your wish list: that we might bear fruit worthy of the repentance that is the very heart of this season: fruit of compassion, fruit of sharing, fruit by denying ourselves so that others who have little will have enough. In response to you, we give that our fruit might please you. In the Savior’s name, we pray.  Amen.

Sermon:

“What should we Do?”

Closing Song:

CLOSING PRAYER

We leave this sacred space in peace and joy because of what the Incarnation means. We have a Savior who knows what it is to be tired and tested, befriended and betrayed, adored and reviled. There is no sadness, no pain, no grief we can experience that he has not already plumbed to the depths. He is in every circumstance, in every place, at all times with us. Go, beloved, to walk with God.

Amen.

We hope you enjoyed Virtual Sunday Worship.
