Prayers of the People:
God of great love, we confess that we so often fail to remember that no matter where we are, we are surrounded by your love. We rush through the busy-ness of our days, and are imprisoned by our schedules, instead of letting our schedules give us freedom. We are in the throes of despair, or in the midst of a stormy time, and we forget that no matter where we are, you are there also. So, in these moments of quiet, let us be still and know that you are God.
In the certainty of your love, we pray for those who are ill, and for those who care for them. Might those we name in our hearts feel the support of your loving arms as they travel down difficult paths in treacherous landscape.
We pray for those who serve in distant lands, working and serving in harm’s way. Assure them of your loving presence. We pray for those who work for peace, and who bring help to those in need. Might their gifts be a tangible reminder of your enduring love.
Grant us the courage to give into your hands the burdens we carry: the resentments … the anger … the fear. Take these things away that rob us of you and, in their place, let peace prevail. Free us, O God, from the things that bind us, and help us to relax into your love. In the certainty of your care, we pray.
Amen.

Offering Prayer:
We give our gifts in love and thanksgiving for all that we have been given. Help us give with hearts and minds open to the possibilities of what we can do to heal the brokenness of our world. Let our love travel where we do not, making pathways of peace where there are none, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION
Call to Reconciliation:
We are good at rules: making them and then breaking them. Paul reminds us that, when we gain Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we receive exactly what we need – forgiveness, grace, hope. Let us confess our sins to God, that we might know God’s healing love for us!
Prayer of Confession:
If we were to name all the gods we have before you, Rock of Redemption, we would be here a very long time. We elevate politicians into saviors, though they are as broken as we are. We misuse your name so much during the day, we have trouble speaking to you in prayer at night. We are so busy, we do not notice how creation witnesses to your goodness and grace.
Forgive us, God our Hope. Help us to let go of what we value most, so we may open our emptiness, our hearts, our lives to the healing and loving presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Assurance of Pardon:
Persistently, patiently, lovingly, God pours out grace and joy into our lives,
healing our brokenness, forgiving our sin.
Loved, we are sent to love;
forgiven, we are freed to forgive;
graced, we can offer our gifts to everyone we meet.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
Communion Song:

CLOSING PRAYER
“Faith without works is dead.” God, as we go forth today, let our works proclaim our faith. Let all that we do — our work and our rest — be to the glory of the One who has created us to bear his image. May all that we say and do point to you and be evidence of the hope that we have. We go now, in your name, to bring your hope and truth to everyone we meet this week.
Amen.
We hope you enjoyed Virtual Sunday Worship.
