Prayers of the People:

Loving God, as you once healed a woman with fever through your Son, Jesus Christ, we ask you to heal those known to us today who suffer from illness of any kind. Soothe those whose bodies ache, and calm those with fevered minds. Cast out the demons of addiction and abuse, and teach us to search for you diligently. Help us to proclaim the message of wholeness and salvation that you have taught us, for we would be your faithful disciples.

In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Offering Song:

“Thank You Lord” – Walter Hawkins (ft. Donnie McClurkin)

Prayer for the Offering:

Wonder-working God, use all of who we are, and all of what we have, to uproot what is unjust, and plant what is loving. Through our gifts, speak your gospel to people we may never meet. May all come to hear your call to prophetic living.

Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION

Call to Confession:

We are good at rules: making them and then breaking them. Paul reminds us that, when we gain Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we receive exactly what we need – forgiveness, grace, hope. Let us confess our sins to God, that we might know God’s healing love for us!

Prayer of Confession:

     If we were to name all the gods we have before you, Rock of Redemption, we would be here a very long time. We elevate politicians into saviors, though they are as broken as we are. We misuse your name so much during the day, we have trouble speaking to you in prayer at night. We are so busy, we do not notice how creation witnesses to your goodness and grace.

     Forgive us, God our Hope. Help us to let go of what we value most, so we may open our emptiness, our hearts, our lives to the healing and loving presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:

Persistently, patiently, lovingly, God pours out grace and joy into our lives, healing our brokenness, forgiving our sin.
Loved, we are sent to love;
forgiven, we are freed to forgive;
graced, we can offer our gifts to everyone we meet.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

Communion Song:

“The Blood Hymn Medley” – Tasha Cobbs-Leonard

Communion to the People:

Holy Communion with Westminster Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles

Closing Song:

“Lift Every Voice and Sing” – arr. Kirk Franklin

CLOSING PRAYER

May the God of all hope open your eyes.
May the God of all peace still your anxious mind.
May the God of all love fill your heart to fullness beyond measure.
Go now, in the hope and peace and love of God. And may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Amen.

We hope you enjoyed Virtual Sunday Worship.
