You missed it! If you were not at the Westminster Presbyterian Church Annual Picnic on August 18, 2018 at Kenneth Hahn Park, You missed it!

It was like a 100 mile an hour wind, a tornado, Hurricane Katrina, Volcano Kilauea, or 9/11.  In other words, the food the ladies brought and the meat prepared by the men was so delicious it was dangerous!  It could make you hurt yourself. You could eat yourself into a medical condition.

Mr. Lee Williams should get a trophy for his ribs.  Mr. James Blackwell, president of the Men’s Council, should get a medal for heating the barbeque at the right temperature to maintain the flavor.  The supporting cast of the Men’s Council did their jobs with a smile. The reason I mentioned the rib in particular is because I have never seen so many people with a rib addiction in such a short period.

I described this one lady Miss One Rib because the first time she was served, she only wanted one rib, not being a rib person.  She did not think or know that one of Mr. Lee Williams’ ribs always leads to another rib.  She went back a second time getting only one rib. She went back a third time getting only one rib. She must have thought it was impossible for the ribs to be that good.  After her 10th one rib trip, and like a doubting Thomas, she finally exclaimed, “These ribs are delicious, they may have to roll me out of here!”   The following Sunday, I saw Miss One Rib at church. She asked me if we had any more of those unbelievable ribs.

I know you should never upset an addict or a rib junkie.  I looked her straight in the eyes and said, “I will search my pockets and see”.  After an absolutely, thorough and complete search of my pockets, I told her, “ I could not find a single rib”.  I said to her, “I promise next year I will put two on your plate and cut your rib-trips in half, Amen! –

“Amen!”

See you next year! – Cal Wilson
