Shhh, Virtual Worship is Starting

Opening Prayer:

Living and faithful Spirit, the God in whom we live and move and have our being, the God who is made known in Christ Jesus, bless us one and all as we wait on you this day.

Please remove from our minds and hearts whatever impediments hinder worship or dampen our joy. Increase within us that holy longing for closeness which can open our lives to fuller delight and to a deeper commitment.

May our hymns and prayers, our searching thoughts and our hearing of the Scriptures, be an exercise in the holiest love making.

By you, with you and for you, may our lives publish your praise. In the name of Christ Jesus.

Amen!

SPEAKER: Pastor Carlton Rhoden of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles

Opening Hymn:

“Joyful Joyful, We Adore Thee” No. 120
led by Mr. Matt Daley and Ms. Tiana Whittington

Prayers of the People:

Holy and gracious God, like the deaf man and the Syrophoenician daughter, we are all in need of healing. Some of us have sick bodies, others have sick souls, minds or spirits. We need a word or a touch from the Great Physician, for we are incapable of making ourselves well. We are powerless over the demons that beset us. Anger, worry and fear grip our hearts. Depression and anxiety steal our joy, and disease robs us of vitality. Circumstances beyond our control plant seeds of doubt. Look upon us with mercy and compassion as we mention today those in need of your healing touch [here include specific needs as appropriate]. Come, O healing God, to our rescue with words of hope and reassurance, that we might faithfully trust in your healing and guiding presence.    Amen!

“Jesus, The Light Of The World”  No. 217

Offering Prayer:

We come every week to this place of prayer when we offer gratitude for all the blessings we enjoy and dedicate what we give that others might share in our bounty. Let our giving be different this time. Let us not give out of routine. Let us not give out of guilt. Let us not give because we don’t want others to see the offering plate pass us by without putting anything in it. Let us not pray by rote. Let us pause instead by the shore at the feet of Jesus. Let us feel the soft breeze and hear the babbling of the babies, and see the love in the eyes of Jesus as his gaze falls upon us. And then, in gratitude and awe, let us be like the child who offers what he has: bread and fish to feed the hungry through the grace of Christ our Lord.

Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER

May the love of God surround you as you go out from this place and return to your daily life;
May Jesus Christ always stand before you with an invitation to know him and to follow him;
May the Spirit give you wisdom and grace for the journey, and kindle your imagination;
And may the love of this community be like a warm cloak to shield you from despair and keep you strong in hope..
Amen.
