Remix Youth Academy – Summer Arts Program

Remix Youth Academy is a 3-week summer program for youth, ages 14-19. The program is designed to help the youth develop their artistic talents and cultivate a relationship with Jesus Christ through bible study, prayer, fellowship, and service. The students will be given instruction daily from July 17 through August 4.  Each Friday there will be a local outreach project to serve our neighbors. On August 5 there will be a final worship event when the youth will present what they have created and share testimonies. The Remix Youth Academy will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 2230 W. Jefferson Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90018.

Music Production Instructor

General Job Description:  The Music Production Instructor will teach a small group of teenagers basic music production skills using Logic 10. The Music Production Instructor will also be required to help the students with group projects that integrate the students from other classes (e.g. Songwriting, Graphic Design etc.). In addition, the Music Production Instructor will help teach bible study and lead small group discussions. The purpose of this position is to give students a basic knowledge of music production, help them to cultivate a passion for music, and develop knowledge of the Lord.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience producing music with Logic 10
  • Church service (basic bible knowledge)
  • Experience working with teens/young adults ages 14-19

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Music or Theology degree preferred (but not necessary)

Education Requirements:

$15.oo per hour (30-35 hours per week)

The Art/Graphic Design Instructor will be required to help the students develop skills in the art medium of their choice (e.g. painting, drawing, etc.) and digitize their work using Photoshop or Illustrator. The Art/Graphic Design Instructor will also be required to help the students with group projects that integrate the students from other classes (e.g. Songwriting, Music Production etc.). In addition, the Art/Graphic Design Instructor will help facilitate and teach bible study and lead small group discussions.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience with any art medium (e.g. painting or drawing)
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Church service (basic bible knowledge)
  • Experience working with teens/young adults ages 14-19

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Art or Theology degree preferred (but not necessary)

Education Requirements:

The Music Production Instructor will also be required to help the students with group projects that integrate the students from other classes (e.g. Songwriting, Graphic Design etc.). In addition, the Poetry/Spoken Word Instructor will help teach bible study and lead small group discussions. This position is intended teach students basic techniques to enhance their abilities with Poetry/Spoken Word and help them to develop knowledge of the Lord.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience writing and performing poetry/spoken word
  • Church service (basic bible knowledge)
  • Experience working with teens/young adults ages 14-19

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • English or Theology degree preferred (but not necessary)

This position is intended to give students a basic knowledge of proper songwriting formats, help them to cultivate a passion for music, and develop knowledge of the Lord.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience writing music of different genres (Gospel, Hip Hop, R&B)
  • Experience recording with Logic 10 or Protools
  • Church service (basic bible knowledge)
  • Experience working with teens/young adults ages 14-19

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Music or Theology degree preferred (but not necessary)

In addition, the Video Production Instructor will help teach bible study and lead small group discussions. The purpose of this position is to give students a basic knowledge of video production, help them to cultivate a passion for film, and develop knowledge of the Lord.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience shooting video with Canon Cameras
  • Experience editing with Final Cut Pro X
  • Church service (basic bible knowledge)
  • Experience working with teens/young adults ages 14-19

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Film or Theology degree preferred (but not necessary)

Cook

General Job Description:  The cook will be required to prepare a menu for the program, purchase food, and prepare meals for 30-35 people daily. The cook will also be required to clean the kitchen and dining area.
